COMMON QUESTIONS

Q: Is there a theme?
A: Use some of my stock is the theme. Or maybe "have fun."

Q: Can I enter more than once?
A: Yes. But I am the judge and I'm a pretty busy guy. If you bombard me with entries you might annoy me and that's probably not a good idea.

Q: Are those prizes for real?
A: Yes. I used to support various charities and give money to political hacks, etc. This year I'm doing something different and vastly more entertaining with my winter season. I get a great deal of pleasure out of art of all kinds and it's my way of saying "thank you." Besides I want you guys to really feel it's worth kicking some ass and stabbing eachother in back alleys for this contest.

Q: Is this for US only?
A: Nope. But - if you win and you're someplace I'm going to have trouble getting your loot to, we may have to work something out involving cash and meetings under foggy bridges in trenchcoats and spy stuff like that.

Q: Does my artwork have to be on DA or can I host it elsewhere?
A: It must be on DA. That's for my convenience, and it's my contest.

Q: Can I use other stock along side of yours?
A: Sure. Since the contest is about using my stock, if I can't see any sign of my stock in your artwork, you probably won't do very well.

Q: Is it "use of stock" if I use your stock as a reference for a sketch, sculpture, or toe-jam voodoo doll?
A: Yes, as long as the judge (that's me) recognizes it enough to go "Aha. Used my stock."

Q: What criteria will you use for judging? Technical detail, composition, meaning... What?
A: Anything and everything. The idea of this contest is to encourage and reward people for doing something cool. It can be funny, or meaningful, or beautiful or abstract, or clever, or - whatever. As judge I will choose what I like best, by whatever criteria make sense at the time.
